Gluttony

Marina Mandarin: AquaMarine

Ambiance: 9/10
The theme here is of course about marine hence everything here is designed based on that. Eating utensils like the forks, spoons and knifes are wavy-shaped, cups are blue with bubbly designs. Blue lightnings and other decors inside gives a very comfortable feel.

One of the widest range I have seen. They have a sushi bar, open kitchen at offers local food, dessert bar, seafood bar and a BBQ counter where you can order lamb chops, oysters and prawns. The seafood here are very fresh, but the variety of sushi and sashimi isn’t alot tho. O the other hand, theres a wide range the desserts. Theres fruits, various flavours of ice-cream, cakes and pastries, moose and something you don’t see very often; many kinds of cheese to go with the breads.

Service: 8.5/10
Plenty of staffs going around to clear your plates. Friendly people at the bars and counters to explain the different type of cuisines and also reminding you to visit other bars to get their specials. One thing we encountered was that about 30 minutes before closing, the staffs seems to be like busy over don’t know what and our plates just stacked up when we were having desserts. When we ordered tea, the staff served the tea without milk and sugar. We had to ask for it again, not to mention he didn’t bothered to clear the table when he serve the tea.

The Square @ Furama

Ambiance: 6/10
Ambiance here is pretty ok. Your typical restaurant feel nothing bad but nothing special as well. Layout is pretty simple with the food located at the middle of the restaurant and the type of food is categorized into each stations.

Food: 6/10
The variety isn’t alot although there are some rather special dishes which I have never seen before. Highlight here would be the desserts because are like 1/3 of the variety food they offer. Alot of pastries and chocolates for those sweet tooth.

Service: 7.5/10
Service here is rather good here. Staffs are polite and efficient.

Overall, I quite like the place except for one thing. They do the frying, BBQ-ing, etc of the food in front of you and somehow I feel I makes the place alil smoky and oily. Price is quite reasonable here.

Ellenborough Market Cafe @ Swissôtel

Ambiance: 7/10
Furnishings and decors are from olden Singapore days. Very retro looking tiles, big marble tables and wooden chairs. I must say the chairs are quite uncomfortable after some time. The paintings on the walls are very retro too! I wonder if they are authentic or replicas because theres one EverReady poster/painting at my table.

Food: 6.5/10
Theres quite a variety here. Mainly Pernakan cuisines, some Japanese and other local stuffs. Honestly the food here isn’t as good as I had imagine, especially if you consider the price(about $34+++ I think). But still its decent and I like the Bak Kuah they offer.

Service: 9/10
Service here is great. Every time I leave my seat, the plates are definitely cleared by the time I’m back. Any request they would gladly serve you too.

Oh yea, we saw Moses Lim at the cafe too. Well he is big, but not as big as what I saw on TV. Maybe hes been sliming down.

ABC Market

I think its been more than a year since I’ve been here. Very much due to the renovation works and the enormous crowd it attracted after the face lift.

It took quite awhile to located the stall selling one of the best fried fish fillets in Singapore. They changed their signboard to SinSin Porridge(新新). I have no idea why they put the porridge behind because its kinda misleading, at least to me. The price is still $10 a dish, amount is slightly lesser as compared to last time, taste still as good. Strongly Recommended!

There was another stall in the middle selling Wanton noodles. Very nice also, although I didn’t take any pictures because I gobbled it up as soon as I got my hands to it. The noodles were very Q, Wanton was ok and there was like 5 or 6 in the bowl of soup. Recommended, the noodles are worth trying.

The satay and chicken wings were pretty normal. Just that everything including the sauce had a distinctive “smoked” taste. Wonder did they overcooked it or its part of their recipe.
