Hubstation

The Starhub shop with the shortest queue. Always avoid Plaza Singapura, the queue there is ridiculous. Anyways heres a review, after a couple of hour usage.
Old DigitalTV Box vs Hubstation DVR Box
The new set-top box is bigger and heavier(because of the HDD) then the old one. The heat it produce is also much more. Kinda like the first set-top box Starhub released.
The new remote is quite big and heavy. I think will have to take awhile to get use to it.
Theres also a QWERTY keypad behind.
This screen appears everything you turn off the main power. Takes about 10-20secs which is similar to the loading screen on the old box.
Got this the first time I boot up. Definitely took more than 10mins but its reasonable since its only for the first boot.
Tried abit of recording and its rather easy to use. I noticed whenever you change to a channel, it automatically records it in a buffer, hence u can pause, rewind, slow-mo it anytime. The buffer is cleared upon channel changing. I don’t know why the video skips sometime like playing a disc that has dirt. Hope it goes away, it not have to call 1633 already. Everything else is fine.

Take A Breather

Hell week has come to an end! The last of assignment 1 was submitted last night and finally I can get some real sleep. Well, not really. Woke up at 6 today to send my brother, sis-in-law and niece to the airport. Hope they enjoy the stay in Bangkok.
Went to eat breakfast with mum at Kilat court. Watching the sun rise from behind Bukit Timah Hill while having breakfast is pretty cool. Many hardworking people are coming out for a morning jog. The last time I jogged in the morning was back in army. That sucks, night jogging FTW !
Then went to Outram park because mum want to buy some stuffs from the Chinatown market. So I went to the carpark below Elton’s place, I think the place is called Outram perl bank, to wait. Heard from him that the enblock isn’t going through here and I think I can understand why. The view is magnificent and people say the 风水 here is very good.
Marina Mandarin: AquaMarine

Ambiance: 9/10
The theme here is of course about marine hence everything here is designed based on that. Eating utensils like the forks, spoons and knifes are wavy-shaped, cups are blue with bubbly designs. Blue lightnings and other decors inside gives a very comfortable feel.
Food: 9/10
One of the widest range I have seen. They have a sushi bar, open kitchen at offers local food, dessert bar, seafood bar and a BBQ counter where you can order lamb chops, oysters and prawns. The seafood here are very fresh, but the variety of sushi and sashimi isn’t alot tho. O the other hand, theres a wide range the desserts. Theres fruits, various flavours of ice-cream, cakes and pastries, moose and something you don’t see very often; many kinds of cheese to go with the breads.
Service: 8.5/10
Plenty of staffs going around to clear your plates. Friendly people at the bars and counters to explain the different type of cuisines and also reminding you to visit other bars to get their specials. One thing we encountered was that about 30 minutes before closing, the staffs seems to be like busy over don’t know what and our plates just stacked up when we were having desserts. When we ordered tea, the staff served the tea without milk and sugar. We had to ask for it again, not to mention he didn’t bothered to clear the table when he serve the tea.

Harlequin Type Ichthyosis

I just saw a heart breaking video on youtube regarding a kind of skin disease called Harlequin type ichthyosis which targets babies. I got quite a shock the first time watching it. Then I replayed the video again and I really cried after watching it. Seeing and hearing the child cry is so depressing. Umm.. I really have no idea what to say. I think we should be thankful for what we have…

Odex is hot !

Seriously Odex is like the most talked about thing in Singapore right now. From mere rantings and complains on EDMW@HWZ months ago, to now Odex is on every forum, every newspaper in town. Thanks to Stephen Sing of course; Like threatening and extorting money from people who downloaded licensed animes ain’t enough, going into forums and make cocky remakes is adding fuel to the fire. Very smart move indeed.
Most likely tomorrow Pacific Internet users are going to join SingNet and StarHub in the hot seat. But honestly I don’t think the evidences shown by Odex is strong enough to be brought to court. We have seen idiots knocking others at the pedestrian crossings. Merely providing tracker logs? Maybe if you seize a hard disk with files inside then you have a stronger case. Metallica only sued Napster, while Odex is trying to battle thousands of fans and technology. The outcome should be pretty interesting.
Anyways good luck to those anime fans. May the force be with you… (o.o)y
Not so boring Saturday

When to Labrado park after dinner. The place has just been renovated and it looks really nice.
View of the jetty from a viewing platform. Its very high up here and its kinda scary if you look down because all you see are trees and rocks.
The Olive Ristorante, looks like a nice place to dine. Very nicely decorated toilet beside the restaurant. Interestingly, wondering outside the toilet then he entered the ladies. After awhile he came out and following a minute later a lady came out from the toilet too. (-_-)??
Sentosa and habourfront. Thats the best the camera on my phone can do =[
This week we didn’t go skating. Instead we did something we hadn’t done for a long time. Lan gaming! Played till 6:30am; shag.
Alright, rest today and time to start on assignments on Monday. And its raining now, I love the smell of rain………………..
星光同学会

Just watched the first episode of this new variety show featuring 星光帮’s top 10. Honestly, it kinda suck because they are doing things I have seen many times and the jokes ain’t funny all 老梗. And most of their singing is terrible. Nothing like how they did in the competition. I don’t think I would watch again unless they invited some superstars on the show like this episode.
Conclusion, the show is rubbish.

Not much new songs in this album, but still its a good enough album and I liked it very much.
私奔到月球 is a duet with 陈绮贞. This is a light hearted song and both their voice is rather 搭, hence its quite comfortable. Also, the MV is rather cute.
离开地球表面 I like power chords in this song and simple lyrics makes it very catchy.
抓狂 the opening reminds me of Sum41′s pieces. Anyways this is my favourite, the tempo is fast and theres many parts with guitar solos. Together with the explosive lyrics, its a nice song to scream off in the KTV or bath room.
This album is definitely worth buying. And on that bombshell, rock on Mayday…
Celebrations
Aug 9th
Today is the joint celebration of national day and my grandma’s birthday. Thus everyone gathered at my uncle’s place for dinner. As usual, grandma single-handedly prepared 大鱼大肉 dinner for everyone; as tasty as ever. Center attraction today isn’t the NDP parade on TV, its my little niece.

New Chief in the house
Aug 6th
Today’s dinner menu would be black pepper steak, chicken chop and steamboat.
First up is the black pepper steak. They turned out to be 2 medium and 1 medium rare. Well its not bad since I was aiming for medium done.
The chicken was much easier to do. Although from the picture they don’t look really good, but its actually golden brown. Reminds me of how I did the chicken chop at Faipang’s cafe using the grilling machine.
RedBull + Vodka after dinner. I think I feel alil weird after drinking 2 cans of redbull, maybe it isn’t the healthiest of choices.
